** Countries around the world have expressed their support to the Chinese government on its handling of the recent riots in Lhasa, capital city of China's Tibet Autonomous Region. Chinese government said that by March 26 the streets in Tibet's capital Lhasa were calm and business is back to normal."

A spokesman of the Foreign Ministry of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Thursday strongly denounced the unsavory elements of their moves to seek "the independence of Tibet" and scuttle the upcoming Beijing Olympics.

He expressed support to the Chinese government in its efforts to ensure social stability and the rule of law in Tibet and to defend the fundamental interests of the Tibetan people.

A spokesman of Mongolia's Foreign Ministry reiterated that Mongolia adheres to the one-China policy and recognizes Tibet as an inalienable part of China.

Other countries issued statements similar to those listed above are: Nepal, Bangladeshi, Kazakh, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Georgian, Syria, Fiji, Serbia, Zambian, Sierra Leone, Benin, and several African countries.

China said 19 people were killed in riots in the Tibetan capital last week and official media warned against the unrest spreading to the north-west region of Xinjiang, where Uighur Muslims fight against Chinese control.

The rising death toll comes amid mounting international concern over China's handling of the protests, overshadowing the run-up to the Beijing Olympic Games in August that the host hopes will be a celebration of its arrival as a world power.

On March 22, the official Xinhua news agency on Saturday quoted officials in Tibet's capital Lhasa as saying 18 civilians and a policemen were killed, another 58 people were seriously injured in the riots, which Beijing insists were engineered by Tibet's exiled spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama.
